As a central figure in Berlin's electronic music scene since the late 1980s, Peter Kuschnereit performs under the aliases DJ Pete and Substance. He is the longest-serving staff member at the Hard Wax record store and has held a residency at Berghain since the club opened. Under his Substance moniker, his releases on Chain Reaction and Ostgut Ton helped shape Berlin's dub techno sound. He also performs in the live techno duo TR-101 with Sleeparchive and collaborates with Vainqueur as Scion.
